2. CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATIONS
Calcium Carbide or calcium carbide is a chemical compound with the formula CaC2. The color of calcium carbide depends on the size and impurities, from black to dull white.
The main application of calcium carbide is to prepare acetylene gas (C2H2). CaC2 + 2 H2O → C2H2 + Ca(OH)2
Calcium carbide size: 80-120mm and 50-80mm.
Gas production content: 295 liters/kg (min).
Acetylene gas is used in many industries such as chemicals, plastics, metallurgy, metal welding and cutting, etc.
Carbide is used to stimulate growth for some crops as well as to ripen fruits quickly.
Carbide is also used to create a loud bang for symbolic cannon shots.
Along with calcium phosphide, calcium carbide is found in marine flares, etc.
